December '11

Seeing the Rockefeller Christmas tree with Meredith and Donovan.

Story time with Dad.

Reading the paper at Pelham Delite.

The fall

In November we moved into a new apartment. For a while we lived across the yard from Nana. She could look out of her bedroom window and wave at us in the kitchen.

A birthday song for Dad.

Discovering electrical outlets.

The first bath in the new apartment.

You had a lot of fun with a pot of blocks.

You really enjoyed getting to try green beans.

A day in the life

Once a week we would go to the grocery store.

But every day we go to the park. Sometimes we would meet friends there.

Sometimes we would just sit outside on the steps and wait for packages.

Whenever Dad was about to run out of clean underwear we would go and do laundry.

Usually you would spend time practicing sitting.

You and Dad spent lots of time playing together.

Sometimes we would go to fancy art openings.

You grabbing for my necklace at Nana's opening.

All the excitement eventually wore you out.

Hurricane

When you were very little, there was a terrible storm.

The storm knocked down many trees in the park.

Here I am pointing out a large tree that had gotten knocked down.

And here I am enjoying the wind blowing through my hair.

Here we are just being glad to be out of the apartment. You were probably saying something to make me laugh.

When you and Dad found a giant puddle/new lake, of course you has to walk through it.

Sometime puddle stomping makes you tired.

Monkey

Waking up after a nap at the Highline Park.

Meeting Dad for lunch.

There was a time when you thought the word "monkey" was incredibly funny.

You became an expert at grabbing your toes.

We read lots of books together. And sometime you read books by yourself.
I found new ways to try to get some more sleep.

One day you discovered a new place to sit.

Talking

From the moment I woke up I knew it was going to be an interesting day. It was the quiet that woke me up. It was to quiet. I found you in the bathroom, brushing your teeth with toilet water.
I made us  pancakes for breakfast and then we took a walk.

At the park today I let you crawl around the wall ball court, jokingly referring to it as a giant play pen. What play pens don't have is mud puddles. You apparently slid on your butt through a puddle and you were very wet. So I took your pants off of you and wrapped you in my sweater and and brought you home to get dry pants. You fell asleep in my arms.

We played hide and seek with Noah today. Every time we found Noah or Noah found us you would get startled. Also, you talked a lot during our turn to hide. You still have a lot to learn about hiding.

Today we read: Tico the wingless bird, Tacky goes to camp, stories from Pooh's bedtime book, the Bible, and part of Chekhov's  The Cherry Orchard-but it was before nap time and I was doing lots of Russian accents and you didn't want to nap anymore. Maybe we won't read Chekhov before naps anymore.

Finding your toes

When I got my wisdom tooth pulled, you did a great job cheering me up.

Going for walks with Dad often made you fall asleep.

Uncle Matthew sharing his beer with you.

Sporting male pattern baldness and a pair of knit pants Grumpy made for you.

You were happy to help Heather finish her homework.

Then you found your toes. They had been there the whole time.

Learning to bounce

Finally you were big enough to try out your jumper.

You seemed to have mixed feelings.

So Dad helped you figure it out.

First trip to the zoo

When you were very little, you seemed to have a lot to say in the middle of the night.
And then you slept a lot durning the day.
This was your first trip to the zoo and you slept the whole time.

You slept while we looked at the buffaloes.
You slept while Dad held your feet.

You slept during a mom-and-dad kiss moment.

You slept the whole time!

Later that night, you slept some more.
